Hi all haven't been around much still working on the new house and have new 8 week old keeping me busy. As the type 3 has expresed interest moving on to the the big recking yard in the sky (terminal rust) I have desided a Kombi is the way to go. My asperations to have a 12 second bug will have to wait for a few years as I still race mountain bikes and I cant afford both.

Anyhow I plan on looking at a dual cab and micobus on the weekend is there any area I should real look out for rust. As I don't want to repeat what happend with the typre 3. It looked reasonable at first untill the roof rusted off. :repuke

Any advice on buying a type 2 would be apresiated

Front floor-though this can be repaired fairly easily.
Around windscreen and pillars is usually sign of more rust elsewhere. Also top of roof over front doors near gutters-you can usually see of this has been bogged up.

nah there's no rust in a $700 bus usually, and dead easy to fix even if there is, on the road for a couple of grand....

Im looken to spend maybe 5-6 grand on a solid but untidy bay and if I can find one around 12g's on a bloody nice one, depends on what comes up. Locally I have a few bays to look at this weekend just under 5g's so it will be interesting to see whats out there.
