Well for once i've ditched the smiley faces as i'm not over smiley.

Well you never what life is going to throw at you and yet again it's all change and unfortunatly not for the good!

Some of you know me know my folks have been in bad health , my mum especially. Well they had planned their last trip to Oz next year , last as they found the flights etc real hard going. Well they are both in their mid 70's. Plan was to buy a Kombi and travel around Oz. Something they both wanted as much as i did. I have just found a camper to!
Today i got the news that my mums cancer has returned and cannot be operated on. As you can imagine this hits hard and some big changes have to be made.

I have been in Oz for 6 years now from the Uk and love the place to bits although life has been pretty hard out here. I had more than my fair share of ups and downs like most but the last year especially has been very lonely and hard going coupled with my folks in ill health always on my mind.

It is for these reasons that i'm packing my bags and off back to the UK. This is something i have been thinking about for a few years but always wanted to give it a go here. I plan to leave in Jan and do not plan on coming back so it will be farewell to all my AVD chums.

I personally want to thank everyone involved with the site , it's awesome. I have learnt so much and chatted crap all hours of the day and loved it all.

As i'm off everything i own is up for grabs now including the sqaure. I'll list my stuff in the sellers forum for anyone interested.

I will be around for a short while and hopefully making the most of my last few months here.

In all this sad times as ever my warped sense of humour comes through and tells me that at least i'll get to some 2-3 day vw events to look forward to. Bound to be one dry day!

Cheers all and be nice!

So great to hear that all to rare Black Country accent Dan. Take it easy mate, and keep that VW vibe alive back home. Knock em out back in Solihull.

Mate been through the same thing with both my parents. You've just got to be there for them and to give each other strength.

Hi Danny

Sorry to hear about your mum, I hope all turns out for the best.

I only met you once, but you came across as top bloke, just the sort of person we want as migrants to this country.

The VW scene will a bit duller without you around.

dan i share your pain mate, as my mum is in the same boat, yet my mum is only 58. she has been battling cancer of the lymph glands for 9 years (and the docs only gave her 2). one of the reasons why i moved nearer to assist my olds anyway i can.

i send you and your mum my kindest thoughts at this time, and hope you guys spend many moments enjoying and reminiscing all the good you have shared.

i dont know if it helps as i am not sure of your situation, but a few years back my mum tried a trial stem cell transplant, after she had everything else you could imagine. i did some good.

best wishes mate.

wes.

You're in my thoughts Dannyboy!

I was you all the best in life, and hope everything goes as smoothly as it can! Remember you can always jump on the net, and all your AVD friends are just a button or two away. I'm sure i can speak for everyone when i say we are here for you if you need someone!

You're in my thoughts,

Best wishes to you and your family Dan. I just had a close friend leave Oz back to UK after 4 or so years - in the end just missed home too much. Although your circumstances are different, it is never an easy decision but hopefully you will be happy back 'home'. Take care.

Hey Dan,

I've never met you, but you seem like a nice bloke so it sux that life has thrown this at you.
It would be such a hard decision to make, but as said earlier, we'll only be a click away here in Oz.

Make sure you give your Mum big hugs, and try to stay positive.

Best of luck to you and yours in Life's next adventure.

Danny, I really feel for you dude. So sorry, about your mum and stuff. Maybe you can take ya squareback with you? That'd be an Ultra VW feature car for sure, specially as an import. Please stay on the Forum when you get back home. Maybe we can exchange parts and stuff.

Dan, sorry to hear about your Mum's decline in health. Don't give up on her, stranger things have happened than people beating cancer..

Besides, this is the internet mate.. Who says you have to leave AVD? No point in losing friends made bud!

Anyway, wishing you all the best from the staff at AVD, and thanks for your kind words about the site.
Good luck, and we hope to see you again soon.
