I was in a local car workshop today (not VW), needed to borrow a shifter to tighten a loose bolt.
the guy who runs the place is pritty good like that, anyway.... i saw one of his guys chucking small hand fulls of "AJAX" cleaning powder, down the carby of this Jap car, anyway ... HUGE clouds of white smoke pouring out the back of this thing ... i asked.. "what dose that do" and i got a reply that it was cleaning all the built up crap out of the barrels & off the pistons.
Now i am first to admit i know more about pouring a beer, than the inner workings of a car engine , but this just seemed a little "back yard-ish" to me, but if it works, who the hell am i to question it.

not baggin them out, i just thought it was funny & i thought i would share with the rest of you. :thumb

yeah i dont think id do it to any motors worth something. But ive heard that if a car doesnt run in properly then do the AJAX trick and it ruffs the rings and barrels up and runs them in.

I've heard a little diesel down your carb throat with the motor running can do the same (clean engine).
Never felt the need to test it out, and am in no rush to try it!!!

I have used used water before and slowing poured it down the carby while running the engine at about 4000rpms, heaps and heaps black smoke and steam come out of the exhaust.

I have a motor bike that I have recently replaced the pistons and rings and it never has "run in" even after 6 month of riding, I might buy myself some AJAX.
