Hi all, I am new to this board (and a good one too I see!) and currently a modified Subaru owner on a subaru board, and I am interested in other forms of flat four.
http://www.ausubaru.com/main/index.php

My needs at home have changed, and offroading with the family is not working out at the moment. I also have a passion for motorbikes, and came upon the idea that a van or dual-cab T3 with a Subaru conversion would be a possible idea to cover all bases for transport.

I havent had time to search this board for all these answers as there is a lot of posts.

I would like to know the following:
1. Is the T3 dual-cab a hard to find vehicle in WA?
2. Did they come as Syncro's as well?
3. Is the EJ22 conversion cost affective for money spent to power and economy?
4. What year models had a 5 speed?

Constuctive replies, not opinions please.
Cheers,
Roger.

VW only bought 180 T3 twin cabs to Australia from 1990 till the end of '91, so they are not easy to get anywhere.

They did come out as a Syncro.

I don't know much about the Subaru conversion, I like the original engine, it is reliable, gives good fuel economy for the size of the vehicle, and if maintained properly will last a long time.

All T3's had a 5 speed gearbox from '83, except for the autos of cause!

I have a '91 twin cab, it's fantastic.

Thanks Menangler, seems like I may need to be very patient on those stats in finding one!

The van the would be more likely to available etc, but looking at one T3, it makes it hard to load a motorbike via the side door, a little more physical that I would like, cant afford a T4 or T5.

baybuscamperkid - I have now read some good tech posts since, seems a good way to go.
Thanks.
