One of the folk interested in the sqaure lives in Victoria. I know the NSW pink slip(roadworthy) isn't transferable to Victoria so how does it work? It's my understanding that if the car is sold with NSW rego on it and lives in Vic that the owner would drive car on NSW rego and plates until rego runs out then has a Vic roadworthy and transfer of plates.
This is only what i have been told and would like to sort out exactly what the state of play is.
Any ideas

Your right, rego is not transferable between states and in order to have the car rego'd in VIC you have to start all over again (Like a new/vehicle registration). Allthough its posssible to keep the car rego in NSW (Im assuming in your name/plates etc) its not 100% legal as the registration details are suppose to change within 14 days of purchase/selling. The onus of trasferring rego is on the new buyer (and you telling the rta with a disposal notice). The only real drama is if the person who buys it gets fines/tickets etc..

im quite familiar with this as all defense personal are exempt. if you have a car with another states rego. you must change it over within 3 months of moving this includes cars bought interstate. but vic roads would be your best bet to find out mate

Yes i seem to remember someone mentioning the 3 month thing before now i think about it.
So in otherwords maybe 2 things could be done. Either car is taken and driven for 3 months on NSW rego then has to get a Vic roadworthy
OR
Car has NSW rego cashed in and transfered to Vic without any rego. When it's in Vic it has a roadworthy and new plates. Them maybe that could go towards the freight to Vic?????
Just fishing for ideas on behalf of a possible new owner

I had a Honda CR-V in NSW plates when I moved back to Vic, and when it ran out I just re-registered with Vic plates (5 months later). Mind you, it was all already in my name.
Definitely give VicRoads a call though. Worst case scenario would be for you to had back the plates and get a refund for the amount of rego left on it at the RTA, and minus that amount off the car's selling price for the new buyer. Still a shame it's getting sold though. 🙁
I think if it's more than five years old you will definately need a RWC (about $40 from your nearest mechanic assuming it doesn't need any work).
In the worlds before Monkey primal chaos reigned. heaven sought order, but he pheonix can fly only when its feathers are grown. the 4 worlds formed again and yet again, as the endless aoens weild and passed. Time and the pure essence of heaven and the moisture of the earth all worked upon a certain rock old as creation. And it became mgically fertile. That first egg was named "Thought". Thathaga Buddha, the father Buddha, said with our thoughts we make the world. Elemental forces caused the egg to hatch and from it came a stone monkey! The nature of MONKEY WAS IREPRESSIBLE!!!!! !
think with the way the states interchange rego informastion with the Police and Transport Departments you can get away with it until it is due as long as you do not get caught driving for longer then 60 or 90 days - Missus got caught liecense wise some years back.
Best to tell the NSW RTA that you have disposed of it because all fines etc will come back to you - not they can do much but better to be sure and cover your arse than sorry down the track sometime
