While looking for a cheap as chips car, ie Hyundai, the other day I stumbled upon an Ibiza. Only had $4K on the window, think it was 97 model, 154,000KM. Apart from a lack power and space it was twice as good a car as a comparably priced Hyundai.
Has anyone owned one of these? Or heard reports? I wouldnt be going back to buy this one because I want aircon (dreaming in a 1.4 ltr?) but its an option over a noisy clunky hyundai. I know they made 2 litre ones as well although if they were golf engines they would no dout be gutless 2 litres. What about cordobas? Remember thrashing a Gti once upon a time, but nothing about its ride or anything.
I cant believe I was about to buy a 2.4 litre lancer but bought land instead. ARGH shoot me.

we bout a 1994 seat ibiza for my sister about 2years or so ago now.
it's a 1.4L manual, gunmetal grey with alloys. we paid about 6.5k or something similar and it had more k's than this.
i'd say, check the underside of the pan for weld marks (sometimes these can be dodgy apparently), and get it checked over by a racv dude..or nrma up you way i think...
all vw parts in the motor..(actually, it has the same starter motor as my 2L 97 golf :P)
air con and heating works great in them..basically all the same gauges and dials as my golf too..
power can be a bit on the low side sometimes..but they handle fairly well (check the brakes :P) and with 2 pioneer 6x9's and a35wx4 headunit in my sisters it sounds really good 😀
i think hers maxes out a little over 170-180km though i can't remember..(not that i'd drive my sisters car like that of course)
anything else let me know and i'll check it out...

we had a Seat Cordoba.
very under rated car.
awesome value for money.
It's basically a Golf 3 with a spanish body.
great to drive.
Most people seem normal, till you get to know them.
The cordoba gti that I serviced went really well on the test drive. Thats all I remember, blasting up the back street.
I just remembered that the brakes on the ibiza I drove last week were shot. They went to the floor. But im sure that would fix OK, probably just out of fluid and pads. But yeah, stuck real nice on my favourite road test location.
Cordoba = Golf. Ibiza = Polo. I spose both ibiza and polo share some golf parts.
No bad reviews. Maybe I should look into this further! A 1.4 litre ibiza for 3K, a new cam, fab a new exhaust, with the turbo/intercooler from the shed, buy another EFI hmm 6K for a fairly quick car. probably not good enough to take out any hillclimb classes but a nice sleeper. Never going to happen but would be a lot of fun. Maybe start another thread, fastest street ibiza :P
hehe drop a 2L golf motor into there..or even better there's a $2k negotiable subaru motor(and gearbox) on here. that'd be pimpin.
or, go all out, get a 3.2L audi twin turbo mwhahahahahah

nah works fine clicking on it in firefox
few odd things. it's been done but nees an eng cert, and a rwc (could be some potential problems there)
if it hasn't been driven (as stated), then how can they know it gets 170hp at the wheels, and why the bloody hell does it have a numberplate on it!
it also doesn't have a radio/cd player. and i doubt it'd have a service history.
