If you want to see some very, very serious aircooled iron.
Check out these detailed pix of a buildup of a 917 Porsche flat 12 engine.
Fucking got a woodie here.
Thare are plenty more galleries there dealing with other racing Porsche stuff as well.

Or maybe when 12 cylinders just aren't enough!
The Turbo version had over 2000 Hp in qualifying trim and just over 1,500 in race mode!

Was being developed for the 917-30 inthe USA Can-Am series which Porsche demolished with the 12 cyl engine!

No wonder the rules were changed before the 16 cylinder version even turned a wheel.

Boy, what could have been!!!!🤪
