has anyone tried using type 3 carbies on an upright engine. What manifolds and linkages did you use to clear the fan housing etc.

use the stock short manifolds, modify some type 3 linkage. motorcycle air filters.
the hardest part is getting the linkage to clear the genny.

Hi

You need to look at the jetting as well, they are jetted to suit the stock aircleaner.

hi,
ive done it to a few upright engines with good results
there is bit of fiddly stuff and welding but it can be done
this was the first set i converted bout 4 years ago, they were from a late type 3 auto and had the 2 vacum ports on the side of each manifold which dont agree with upright tin ware
i cut them off welded them up and drilled out the other side as per early style ones then made up a new balance tube outta 3/8 ssoft drawn copper
yeah i coulda just got earlier manifolds but thats easier said than done
linkages need abit of rearranging cant remmber what i drilled the jets out to

yeah went real well nothing compared to webers or dells but very similar perfomace to kads
they should work fine on a 1300 twin port just have to play around with the jetting
i got a pair in a box of bits i got a few years back and thought why not give it a try
noticeble differnce over a 34pict 3 and even better again with extractors (not just a bored out standard box lol)
that engine died in style, kicking the arse of dunnydore
