Australia Day... Time again for the best car event of the year.
I headed down to Canberra on Wednesday morning. Five days of cars, booze and kroozin.

What makes this event so good? The club that puts it on doesn't aim to make a cent!
Entrants only, no Joe public. $20 for an entrant and $10 for their family members. Accomodation in the caravan park isn't much and most meals are provided.
For your $20 you get a goodies bag, entry to the entrants' raffle, Thursday dinner, Friday breakfast, Friday dinner, Saturday breakfast, Saturday lunch, Sunday breakfast and Sunday lunch.
Another $10 gets you a roast dinner on Saturday night.
A trailer full of free beer, port, wine and soft drink on Friday night too.
The entrants raffle has prizes such as a complete garage pack (retractable air line, trolley jack, creeper, fluids, tool box etc), a TIG!, posters (mine from last years event) all sorts of stuff.
Bands on Friday and Saturday night...

Judging is by peer choice. Top 6, Top Kustom and Top Ratster.
A few other trophies exist such as Top Bike for the kids, Dare to be Different, Kool Kroozer and the best of all - The Car Lending Award, given to the owner of the car that let the most other people drive it (let's see that happen at a VW show LOL).

A trip on Friday to the War Memorial Annexe was organised by one of the entrants that happens to work there. Closed to the public this facility is where the War Memorial stores items they can't display and restores items for display.

^ Off roading anyone? The red one is a four wheel drive. ^Yes, that is a leather HSV seat. The Captain and XO of the HMAS Brisbane got to sit in comfort. There was also a povo pack VN seat - probably for a petty officer.

The coupe is owned by a friend, Joseph Rodriguez. A big blown Hemi. Doing laps around the park in a 10 second Model A was too much fun - the first big launch almost made me lose my glasses!

A master at work. Alan Smith was laying lines all weekend.

And here doing Nick's '34 roadster as a birthday present...

Friday night's free drinks trailer. Too tempting for some?

Saturday krooze out to Tinbinbilla Deep Space Tracking Station. That place is in the middle of nowhere!

The Dukes initiated a member...

Look closely at who is holding the rope leading the initate around. Our own Decked Dubby. You are a bad man Damo.

Some of the trophies and raffle prizes.

My favourite 3 pics...

Looks like a top weekend, I was heading down to Wakefield Park on Aust Day and spotted many nice rods heading down. How did Brett get both cars there? His misses drive the 28?:P

Good to the Rodriguez coupe getting some sun shine! Rat Day rained pretty bad last year so it was all covered up. But BOY does car have so go!

You planning to go to Rat Day this year? I am sure all the usual suspects will be there.
I am thinking of taking the Type 3 and seeing if they will let me park it next to my old mans 28 Woody.
