While looking for a splitty to fill the garage I came across a 76 bay for sale at a very good price. My son was turning 16 and has wanted a kombi for ages. Thinking this was ideal and a good price I contacted the seller and made arrangements to drive to Orange to pick it up but the night before the pick up he rang to cancel stating he had to pick up his new car and then he was going away for 10 days but not to worry the kombi was ours (his words). After not hearing from him and after 3 days of ringing i finally got on to him only to be told that he had sold it. Naturally I voiced my opinion of what he had done and I had to tell my son who was also very disappointed. Its obvious he got a higher offer but i want to know what happened to honouring agreements - i am totally pissed off especially after making arrangements to take money out of the bank and time off work only to be jerked around. So now I am on the lookout for another kombi for my son, not forgetting a splitty for me. I believe in karma and no doubt he will get his.

I agree Muzza72 that honour isn't as highly regarded as it once was. People just give their word away like the changing winds. It's very sad.
What happened to society that you can't take a man on his word?
It's very sad...
He'll probably have no end of trouble with his new car for being an @$$hair about selling his kombi.
No matter you'll find a kombi shortly and a better one.
honest people strugle , scammers are allways one step in front, anyone i know that is successfull has some kind of scam going on, this is why i am still in struggleville to honest
gravity wont get you high
I agree with t2! This sort of thing happens all the time, if they are open to other offers why dont they just say so. I hate the ppl who know someone already has a deal done but hassel the seller to sell it to them anyway. Those are the real scum.

Sadly, honour was outlawed along with decency, monogamy, morality and hetrosexuality. Honesty is well on the way to the same fate.:o

:o Hi Pete.....after that statement I'am a bit disapointed you haven't added your two cents worth to the "Cowboys" forum/topic
Cheers:beer
don't need to now do I. 😉
Look on the bright side. You may have driven to Orange before you found out and that would have wasted both your time and money with the drive as well. Also, if he was the type to do that, he is also probably the type to cover up faults you didn't know about so maybe you are better off.

Yeah it does happen,,, stupid people,,
Don't worry,, you'll find a better one,, there's alway another kombi coming around the corner..
yep... don't worry... this asshats next car will blow up under him as pennance for his whore-mentality. 👍
I was lucky enough to buy my kombi off one of the most honest upfront people you could ever find...however i dealt with some less than kosher types also before I came across Buttercup... particularly a certain fellow trying to flog me a '72 campper bogged to the windows! 🙁

the same things happened to me that many times that ive lost count...even happened to me last week when i wanted tro buy a beetle thats been for sale for 8 months..was going to buy it for 5k and the seller ends up putting it on ebay and got 5500.so minus the ebay charges he more or less got what i was going to pay for it??just a fraction more.just pissed me off that he couldent come out and tell me that he was going to do that and not waste my time like that..after seeing it on ebay i felt like :cry!!!so dont feel bad happens to all of us...not too many people that are straight forward these days..i really appreciate straight forwardness and a bit of honesty even if its bad news....but i guess not every one feels the same way..your sons lucky for having a dad like you:thumb
i think i have to stop thinking that everybody has the same values as myself it would never enter my mind to go back on my word but obviously some people dont give a shit i recently sold my beetle to a guy from queen sland who couldnt get down to look it over straight away but i kept it for him even though i was offered more for it down here, firstly because i had given my word secondly i knew he would look after it better than the other 2 potential buyers one of them i would not have sold too no matter what he offered, in the end i can sleep at nights.
