Reckon YOUR ride is a cool one, kroozzn62.
been keeping an eye out for it when I go thru newtown but alas not spotted yet.
nice natural patina and very tasteful pinstripes:thumb
Haven't seen dogtown yet but I imagine there were would be a few enviable tee-shirts in it as well!
I got a 69 (sharknose) square it's a trouble free and fun car with loads of cargo space...but I bought it for the looks!
Reasonable looking stockers pop up on e bay every now and then.

I've seen both Lords of Dogtown and Dogtown and the Z boys. I would have to say that I Dogtown and the Z Boys was much better. After seeing that I couldn't help but get back into skating again. (much to my wifes disgust).
I own a 72 Squareback, I wonder if they're going to become a collectors item now??

I watch both movies reguly and every time they finish I get the board out for hours. No one mentioned the low light bay that Jay's mums boyfriend drives, the original rat.Wicked pics Boomerdog. I'd love to hit Biknell on my longboard.
man thats some cool photos anyone got any old boards i miss my smitz stix lucero street styleboard man ii loved that board

yep, the z boys movie bought back some memories. eveninstigated the current choice of avatars i been running for a bit. jjj rundown on lords wasnt too flattering though but i will watch it and enjoy it i am sure.
i was an early 80s skater, big street boards with no front kick and buggerall overhang. after watching z boys i had to find, clean and rebuild my old board. even had to find my old MC helmet that i had plastered with old santa cruz and powell stickers. aaarh, the halycon days...
felt a little like a fish out of water when i entered the teen surf shop but who would have thought that modern independant truck pivot cups and bushes perfectly fit early 80s 9" acs trucks. the old ozi trucks on the rear are still in perfecto nick. the extra weight ive gained over the years, along wth the dud knees, back and wrist (dirtbikes) ment that hard bushes, done up way tight was the ordfer of the day. i think i'll buy some soft slow wheels and some sealed slow bearings before i break something. haha

I've still got my Alva Fred Smith III "Loud One" model, it's in a well used condition and still has the well ground down Indy trucks that I've had since the mid 80's.
My other board is a modern style "Maple" deck on grind king trucks and some aussie made wheels. The new board is much lighter for ollies and street skating but nothing beats the Alva deck and wider trucks for bowl riding.:thumb

I've seen both flicks too - takes you back to "the days". I love that pic of bicknell hill - its awesome. I remember in the Lords movie where Skip Engblom (Heath Ledger) gives the kombi a whack after his 'employees' ditch him at work to go surfing - poor kombi 🙂
That was a cool quote re. the square back though :blush
Great pics Nick. Dogtown and Z boys is a classic...up there with Endless Summer. That old footage just gets you pining.
yeah, just seen that as well. had to chuckle about the old lo-light bay, that car would have been theoretically only 5 years old in that film, yet check out the condition! the 72 sure was nice tho, that colour worked really well. they are pretty nice little cars to drive, even my tattered little one gets some attention on the streets, shame there is no chance of me getting those back wheels loose, with 195 series performance style rubber on the rear and 175 on the front on wide 14inch rims, it is the front that broke away first the one time i got her sliding. it will be a sad day in a month or so when i have to sell her, but i just cant convince anyone else in the family to drive her 🥲
