Now I know I've been a bit slow, but only been back in the country 3 months. I've just realised that sodding petrol stations put up the price for the weekends, it went up 12 cents a litre between 7 - 12 yesterday, thats criminal. For an outdoor nation who get crucified by fuel prices anyway to put it up just for the weekend is kicking us when we're already down. F****rs!!!

I fill up on Tuedays, when it's at the cheapest.... not that it's cheap. But yeah, like Anthiron I fill up and don't look at the price!

yeah my local BP was 109.9 tuesday morning that afternoon 119.9 then fuel truck came in on wednesday back down to 109.9 then this morning back upto 119.9. they have been competing with united next door. which is just crap fuel have heard to many story's about them with people's car's playing up with the dirty fuel. so i would recommend not to use united fuel if you want your engine to last.

109.9, that would be awesome! I'm in Canberra (a main bloody town) and it's generally around 125.0! We're always getting shafted with petrol prices

I fill up every tues and usually get it for $1.05 :-) Tuesday mornings is the time to fill up, avoid filling up from thurs till weekend. Sunday arv is sometimes cheap aswell. I dont mind filling up as long as there isnt a huge que. While we are on the topic... anyone got some figures for a 2l duel carb type4 in a bus for fuel consumption?

last two tanks i have been getting around 13L/100km... does this sound about right?

cheers

Early in the week the prices are the cheapest around Sydney. I fill up at the seven hills Woolworths/Caltex. It's cheaper than other stations and I use my staff discount card, or you can use the fuel voucher.

I can't believe how the stations can get away with an increase of over 10 cents from the morning to the afternoon. I mean what is the ACCC or what ever the governing body that maintians the petrol regulations doing?

I use that station because I work for Woolworths and spoke to the store manager about his quality fuel. He said they have double the turn over of refueling trucks than other stations due to their cheaper price. More turn over means better fuel quality because it isn't lying around in the tanks for too long.
I've been filling up there for years and all my cars have never had a problem.

just bought a pug turbo diesel :thumb...can't buy a golf wagon in oz😢 👎

Anyway, it does 750km to a tank round town. I only drive the buggy once a week or so. So I don't even worry about fuel prices anymore.

Can I recommend diesel euro cars, Golf, Pug, some citroens. A bit sluggish off the line, but probably about the same acceleration as a stock beetle/kombi. And that's without the turbo. 😉
