Well I kinda guessed it would happen sooner or later but this morning the transport dept nabbed me for driving on club plates.
The thing that pissed me off was the fact they were waiting for me and waited till I got passed the 15km point of no return from home, then on went the lights.
They also had documented days and times they have seen me driving.
$180 gone...but the irony is I still came out ahead.
Oh well of to the transport dept this afternoon to put it back on full rego.

they also informed me ther's a blitz on it at the moment...so beware

Nothing better to do with their time, no good picking up those rusty dunnydores with no rego or windows and bald tyres. They're not a risk to the public like you, you public menace. How dare you drive a car that is mechanically sound without paying full rego.:cussing 👍

especially since its those type of actions that jepardise the use of historric rego for legit reasons/passions.

sorry but if you are driving it regularly it should be rego'd.

no sympathy here!

I'm the VW Club representative on the WA Council of Motoring Clubs (CMC).

The WA Transport Dept is threatening to cancel ALL club/vintage plates unless running on them outside the rules stops or is reduced.

We have all been been asked by the CMC to ask our club members to dob in an abuser of club plates to prevent us all losing all of them.

It's put is in a bit of a quandary as we don't like to dob people in.

I would say to anyone who has a car on club plates. Be warned. There is a crack down coming in WA.

Would have though it would be pretty obvious driving with club plates during the week.
Wouldnt have thought there were too many club runs during the week??

Good post for warning others to not do the same, but i guess it is the same as driving an unregistered vehicle - and i dont think anyone would come close to condoning that idea

i love waving to type 3's. They are always so appriciative of the wave. I can't remember what colour it was :P I had my music real loud and was more into that. I love driving out that way, no one to offend with deafening music.

i can imagine they followed you out of karalee...i mean you are really asking to get caught if ur heading into brisbane.

Your not the first one to get caught - A friend of mine got done a few weeks ago. He was within 15km of home, but was pulling out of a local shopping centre (must not be used for anything other than testing purposes within the 15km, unless taking the vehicle to be serviced/repaired or on a club organised event). They threw the book at him (illegal mods/oil leaks/other issues).

BE WARNED - they will get you - please don't stuff it for the rest of us who are doing the right thing. If they were to withdraw the privlige of club rego in Queensland, I would have to sell a number of my cars as I couldn't afford to keep them registered (and there is no point in owning unregistered but roadworthy vehicles). I know of a number of other people that would be in the same situation.

Driving a club registered car in situations outside the guidelines is both illegal and risky (you are also uninsured if you have an accident).

Sorry mate but I don't seem to remember when I was after sympathy.

If you'd notice this wasn't a rant. As penguin said I took it on the chin. I was doing the wrong thing.
It wasn't my plan to drive it all the time but since the sale of another vehicle, thats the way it turned out.

But I guess considering you've never sped in your life, never rolled through a stop sign or run an orange light or are just generally a saint on the road, I have to agree i'm a bad man.

Damn....If only I hadn't been drifting around the roundabout.
