you just need a different bell housing to suit your 200mm (???????) flywheel. So pretty much just get a 1800 bell housing and startermotor and replace the 1600 one on the gearbox with the 1800 one and thats all u need to do.

Some 1800s had 3 rib boxes- my original 1974 camper had 3 rib.
Have list of box descriptions somewhere-will see if I can dig it up

Our bus originally had a 1800 motor with 1800 bellhousing and 1600 3 rib box. The clutch is 1800.

When that box went to pieces we got a 6 rib 2 litre box and bolted that to the 1800 bellhousing.

Now we have a Subaru motor with the 1800 bellhousing and clutch and 2 litre box.

It appears the 1800 bellhousing and clutch fitted everything.

As I understand it, the 1800 and 1600 have the same belhousing. You only need to change the belhousing to put a 2litre box in it, At least that what I was told by a kombi specialist.

The 2 litre box has different action on lever at box.
After you instal and set gear lever correctly in xcabin you may find 2nd and reverse hard to to get. You have to shorten front first rod under gearstick by about 10mm/
If you get under and have someone mover gearlever you will be able to judge how much you need to shorten by watching action of lever at box.

Hope that sounds OK

The 2 litre housing and starter is different as the 2 litre clutch was bigger. You should be able to put an anything to a 2 litre box but not vice versa. You can change just the bellhousings, but need to also change input shaft as it wont reach all the way into the flywheel bearing. If still using the 1800 box shouldnt need to worry about shift rod. If putting a complete 2 litre box in, you need to drill another hole for the grub screw about 10mm longer or shorter as previously mentioned. Mine still seemed to work when I forgot to change it back. I dunno if that is really necessary apart from not being technically correct.
