a thread on carb cleaners was mentioned in another post
Mantara seeking TSP chemicals to clean carbs.
I also am seeking a similar product or experiences.
I am not looking for a cleaner in a can. I have some old carbs that are quite stained and gooey and want to s-o-a-k them in something to bring them up all shiny.
The stuff I used to 'still up would've been good...
What ideas?
Google combos have not been my friend...

Try Fabre Australia (Sydney). They used to have at some stage a cold carb cleaner, but if my memory serves, in a 20 Litre drum. I have no idea whether they still have this. For some reason the name "Decarbomax" keeps popping into my head.
Externally, I've seen stunning results on crappy brit bike carbs using vapour blasting. I don't know whether the process is here in Australia yet.
Enjoy

i Think the brightest you will get carbs using solvents etc is a dullish grey. The alloy the carb bodies are made from oxidises. If you want sunglasses shiny your going to have to buff them up, or get them chromed unless there is some other miracle product out there that i missed out on when i was cleaning mine.
when i was in refrigeration we had a chemical called active shift for cleaning up condensers brought them up like new
i cleaned my carbs up with it before i rebuilt them and they looked better than the brand new one on dads trike
very harsh shit though needs to be washed of straight away or u will have no carb left lol
SERIOUSLY!!! if you look what carbie cleaner is made of it states "ACETONE" use this, simply go to super cheap and buy 1 or 2 litres of the stuff, you can buy it in cans but it turns out very exy, so i found out after 5 cans, so im telling you now get some acetone, which chemically eats carbon away. u might have to use a tooth brush to get some of it off, but other than that just chuck ya carbs in a bucket pour the acetone in and watch magicly how the crap comes off, well u might have to leave it soak for a while but they will be lean as they can be!
cheers
hah used to be carbon-tet fluid and xylene damn environment 😵
