Hi, I just did a grease job on the beam today. No probs on the 4 torsion tube points, but the king/link pins were being difficult.
The grease needed alot of effort for all four nipples to go in and managed to escape from the grease nipple thread only (behind grease nipple, which were pretty tight)
I had the front end raised off the ground and tried new nipples too.
When doing the torsion tubes, the grease is pushed out from the seals at the end of the tubes. Where should the grease go on the link pins?

Is this normal? This is the first time I've done this job.

Any ideas would be great

You need a Hi pressure grease gun and sometimes even then you wont get the grease to flow out of the joint areas.

When the king n links are apart the grease galleries need to be poked out with a bit of wire to allow the flow when greasing them

You can back off the lock bolts and loosen the link pins then try greasing it may work.

bounce on the front of the car does it squeak or groan after its been greased
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true

Thanks for the info. At the moment it doesn't squeak when i bounce it. I have noticed a squeak in the past. There isn't any play in the wheel. Next lube I might do "back off the lock bolts and loosen the link pins then try greasing" as suggested and maybe take it to a garage for the hi pressure stuff.

Thanks again

I've just taken my link pins apart and the grease inlets to lube the actual pins and bushes themselves were clogged solid with old solidified grease. Not dirt. Grease. I had to push it out with a small screwdriver. It was getting no lube (probably for the past couple decades!) and was gluggy to say the least.. I'm replacing mine... too much freeplay from wear in the link pins and the bushes...

hey Dave, as my last post said, my link pin's grease holes were plugged up with old solidified grease. Could the same thing happen to the lube holes to the king pins themselves? Is there anyway to check without pressing out the king pins?
