Hi all,

I just bought my first VW. Its a 1961 split kombi van. So, I am new to this forum and have a question.

It has a alternator fitted to the 1200 engine, but is not hooked up too the the regulator. Can i just hook it up, or do i need a new regulator?? I am very lost and need some help please.

thanks,

Sam.

Yes it is a bosch one. So it has an internal regulator. Thanks for your help Joel.

the factory ones were bosch too but the way to tell is if it only has 2 connections on top (one big B+ and small warning light 61 connection) then its iternally regulated
the external reg'd ones have 3 terminals on a round connection block and an earth conection near the fan
in this pic u can just see in top right corner the round three prong connecter
