idle question

I think I have the choke problem sorted but I also think that the idle is to low. Can I just turn up the idle by turing up the idle speed screw? Which way to increase revs? The engine has just been tuned but the chokes were disconected due to shorts.

I am expecting a cold winter so want it to run well.

Just have a fiddle mate. Might help posting a bit of relevant info on the type of motor and carby etc.... Your question is similar to 'which way do i turn the door knob to open it'...
