i got away with storing 4 unregistered cars at my unit in randwick for 3 years due to a friendly Manager, up until the Body Corp stuck their nose into our amicable arrangement.

No explanation, no apology, infact they were pretty rude all round. The body corporate have just done what they like really. said it was a mistake. surprised they didn't say it was my fault infact that were that arrogant.

Who paid for the tow truck driver to bring it back? If it was you, you are entitled to be re-imbursed. Type a letter, date it, don't get emotional in it, use words like
"enclosed is costs associated with recover of Volkswagen Kombi Chassis No______ removed by body corporate xyz. This letter is the first and final claim to said body corporate for recovery of these costs. Payment to be made by 30 days from the date of this claim"
