G'day.
I just wanted if anyone could send me a pic of PMG signage so i could get the decals made up to fit onto my ex PMG, 73 Panel Van. This is a barnyard find almost and is a real ratlooker.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
If you have a picture of a PMG van or anything PMG could you either post it up on this thread or email me with information and pics to:
holmeswi@our.soc.tas.edu.au
Thankyou very much and any help would be great.
Yours sincerely Will. aka 1963 Empi Radar.

its the other way around post master general was government owned & run then it was split into two
1 is australia post
2 is telstra
why does aust fed government always sell off its assets
the most public over the years is pmg, commonwealth bank, quantas & then these companies just get worse & worse over the years & they are still doing it, privatisation
is not the way as been proven by above companies.
I can remember a sign on the rear of their trucks and VW utes etc..
saying their "top speed is 50 MPH" or something similar... not sure of the top speed either... used to see them all the time walking to school....
maybe Max Speed 50 MPH ??

Are you going to take the bus back to its original colour?
[ Edited on 12-4-2006 by byronbus ]
No, maybe not. Am on a tight budget. Will
depend though. I may so i'll keep you posted.
Thanks everyone.
The bus should look good soon.
Cheers Will.
Sweet, it may just need rubbing back, would be good if they just painted over the top and didnt take it back to metal...post some more pics

Am currently considering a possibility of a 6volt 1200cc motor to get to the surf and back with surf rego or RV.
I may just end up leaving the paint and just putting the decals on the side and maybe loweing the back end or maybe jacking it up.
Is the torsonbar jacking up sysytem the same as whats on a 60's beetle.
It has the spring plate and the four bolts.
Disc front brakes drum rear and has two crude windows cut in the back and small buts of rust below the doors, on the drivers floor and the top roof seals at the back. Is this worth bothering with.
I'd like to have all your imputs thanks and i'll see what i should do with it.
Here are a few pics of her coming up now.
Cheers Will

If ya mean is it worth bothering with getting the bus going and roadworthy... course it is...the alternative being that it will just deteriorate further ...then nobody will touch it. ... thats why splittys are rare now... cos they just got thrown in the too hard bin cos they didnt look pretty back in the 70's 80's etc... :cry
Dont wanna see bays go the same way. 👍
I wouldnt advise on putting a 1200cc donk in a bay bus myself...wouldnt pull skin of a cup of cold tea let alone a custard... even the 1200cc splitty had an effective top speed of about 75k's... anywhere pst that up to the flat out top speed of about 90ish for a sustained period and you end up eating your engine...so I'd assume...being somewhat fatter, a bay with a 1200cc would struggle to pull 75k's flat out... pretty poor really... if your content to sit 0n 65k's, then go ahead...hehe... but it'd be painful even on a leisurely krooze mereckons...at least from my perspective.
and I wouldnt expect the motor to last too long puling that weight... get a 1600! 👍 🙂

also splittys had reduction hubs to compensate for tiny engines.....u will kill a 1200 trying to push a bay bug gearbox and bus along.

As i am on a tight budget ai have only a 1200cc 6volt motor currently in my shed. My plan was to leave it in a ratty condition and get it restricyed vhechle regoed so i can go camping around the town where i live. It's near the ocean so i'd need a vhechle to get me there.
I have a white baja and a green beetle with 1600tp and i just thought of putting a motor in it so we could turn it over everso often.
Well when i get a chance i'll posyt up the pics of the rust areas and i'll se what the respionse is about the future of it.
Cheers Will.
take the 1600 out of your blue bug and put it in the bus and put the 1200 in the bug.
