i was following a B double through town at 6:30 this morning on my way to work and was the last car to pass it on the overtaking lanes leaving town
2 mins later it was outta sight and dad sms me at lunch time asking if i got caught in an accident as a B double had crossed over the wrong side of the road then rolled over and slid up the road about 100m at the same time i was heading to work
it was still there on my way home at 4pm and was the same truck i passed
both occupants died instantly as the cab was crushed into a bank
ironically it happened just outside MPC which is where my Boss was GM for the last 4 or so years and one of his other employees was in the car park and unfortunately saw the whole thing happen

really makes u stop and think how fragile life is sometimes
if i hadnt been in a rush i probabbly still woulda been behind it and god only knows if 31 year vw brakes woulda pulled me up in time with the way i drive

bought that $15M lottery ticket?!

Maybe you should let the Crash Investigation cops know you saw it - was there anything unusual...?

Joel, count your blessings. every day is a gift.

BTW, it just makes me angry yet again that 2 people have been killed because the state govt can't get their hands out of their own hip pockets long enough to make rail freight and trucking safe and fair. B-Doubles are way to big and heavy for highways.

Tell me, was the passenger a child of the driver? It's school holidays and lots of kids go driving with their dads if they're truckies. Either way, the Govt should be ashamed of themselves.

i saw on the news tonight the driver was a 30 year casino man and the passenger was around the same age from clunes
the condition of some of the roads around here is just appauling
the pacific highway around this area has so many black spots its no wounder there are so many fatal accidents
that being said though most of the way from bangalow to bris is great now i can make byron to bris in 2hours safley

Goodness that sms must have given you an eerie feeling.... it sounds a horror crash

... yep the Pacific Hwy does have a reputation 🙁

I'm so glad your OK other than probably being a bit shaken with the news knowing how close you had not long passed it before the accident

....damn there will be some grieving going on up that way though...any death is bad but a sudden on is so unreal...unfortunately two lives are lost but there will be some people trying to come to terms with it

We do have to make the most of each day and think how lucky we are...we forget sometimes
