Do you think so????

I am right into whitewalls, roof racks etc but I am not sure if they would look right on a 70's bug (especially a "later" one with the elephant foot tailights)

Towel rails suit some '70's Bugs, depending on the rest of the car (I.e: Colour/Wheels).

IMHO keep away from the cheap taiwan repro stuff. Don't change anything to earlier style stuff. Keep what the factory gave you. Don't go for wide whitewalls- wrong period. Thin whitewalls or redwalls are cool. Go for period wheels like sprintstars or rivieras. Any factory accessories can be cool. I'd personally go for headlight stone guards over eyebrows (see taiwan!!). Don't over do it, and keep it period.
EMPI made some very cool accesories which are now available as quality repros from Flat4 etc. GTV kits can look awesome...
This is all only my opinion of course!
Something like this rows my boat, period cool.
Here endeth the lesson!!!!!!!!

nothing wrong with whitewalls so long as everything matches. the ovveriders like in deluxes pic are great. popouts are also definitely a great look. i am a big fan of the round taillight models

Lots of 70s Jap cars had rear view mirrors on the front guard. you could try a bit of that. Just need to find the right sort of mirror to suit. It's a bit about colour too. go really garish colours and black racing stripes and such. You could also go a rear window louvre, ie the exterior black moulded thingo and some perspex side window rain guards, I think that's what they are called anyway.

I bought some of that gutter guard, same as in the picture.. I think there were others too... They were only available from Your friendly VW dealer in the 70s..
I had a 1971 1302S SuperBug...
Many people asked Me where I got the gutter guard as it did stand out.... Never ever saw another car with it on..
It came with chromed steel ends, but I never used them..

I do have the stainless steel door window shades...
and aluminium & stainless steel stone guards...
6 inch chromed wheels & new rear bumper to add to My car.... I also have the chromed pieces that fit over the carpet etc in the doorway....
I also have chrome strips to add to My New running boards...
None of these are on My car as yet....

Hahaha, what a tacky brochure that was! 😂

I managed to pick up a mint-condition original 1970 VW Beetle brochure for my PBB, it's so cheesy! :P

Gutter trim... that cracks me up so much I wish I could find some! Hahaha 😉
