Just to pre-empt the big questions - "who deleted the thread?" - it was me.
Why you ask - well we are not asking everyone to agree with everyone - that will never happen. However personal attacks and insults will not be tolerated, so threads will continue to be suspended if people can't keep their personal issues out it.
Before typing, just take a moment to think, "if I wasn't behind this keyboard, how would I resolve/approach this situation in the real world?". Would you really say 'this or that' if you were face to face with that individual - sometimes yes....but often no - stop hiding behind the computer and act like you would in person.
Here are a few pertinent points people made in the suspended thread;
Schmoburger wrote:...the very idea of this forum is to bring like-minded VW people together as a friendly group...not to create a veritable abbotoire.
The kind of crap that is started by certain members of this forum is inexcusable... why should members of our own fraternity be cutting there own brothers and sisters throats??? It is seriously shooting holes in he friendly atmosphere that this community aims to create.
So, all involved parties (and you know who you are)... grow up...and if you are unable to see a particular member in a positive light... don't even acknowledge the fact they exist... much more pleasant for everyone that way!
Spook wrote:I've got no idea how many times I've written this over the life of this forum, but I'll write it again;
Not everyone likes you, not everyone agrees with you.
It is a fundamental fact of life, deal with it.
Secondly;
This is a forum, the meaning of which is, an open meeting place for the exchanging of opinions.
Now, opinions are like arseholes, everybody has one.
With the miracle of DNA, they are, for the most part, different opinions. Which is a good thing, otherwise the whole exercise would be pointless.
Everyone on this forum has two things in common.
They own a vehicle that has a VW badge on it & they are a member of this forum.
These are the ONLY things they have in common.
'If you can't say anything nice'
I have heard this before. Aside from refering back to the first 2 point I've made, can you imagine this place going all sweetness & carrot juice overnight? No one would come here anymore, so that too would threaten "the very existance of this forum".
As spook refers to, we are not asking everyone to be nice, but we are asking to be civil and respect other members. It does absolutely nothing positive for this forum or the VW scene in general to air your dirty personal laundry (issues with other members) for everyone else to see/chime in their 2c.
Be an adult and resolve the situation with the person directly via U2U, email or better yet call them - if you can't resolve your issues or don't want to, let it slide....and if you can't let is slide, at least don't post about it in this forum as it will continue to be suspended.
And before anyone asks, no I won't explain what this is all about as it really only involves a few people and has no relevance for the rest of us. I'd rather not get involved but when people report a post, mods have to step in.
Cheers, now can we take a deep breath and get on with the weekend - it is too short to have to deal with this sort of crap.

if its not constructive criticism that is personal, best to shutup, put up. otherwise the Poo throwing fight becomes a civil war, than a national breakup, then a eastern war, then world war, then intergalactic war, then multiversal war, and keeps growing till it all falls back on ya.
Sometimes words should just be left unsaid.
We all do mistakes, i'm no angel, remember me guys, i was the poo stain of avd, i hope i still am not, but it happens. and have learnt my lesson.
Avd has made me who i am today, cause of the kick in the bum, i'm better for it. Thanks Mick H, beb, etc. etc. and all others who had a great flaming with me. Good on ya :beer

Bugger.................I would usually get into my car and driver to the person's place, then very calmly walk to the door with a long steel rod.....................then I would take a moment to think, " If I wasn't about to inflict harm onto this person, how would I handle this situation via the computer?. I would then go back and type a whole lot of ####....................now I have to go back to how I would act in person :P
What this forum needs is an ignore button. Andrew?
Give us an ignore button where posts from that user arent shown. That way, the people who annoy us regularly can be shut out, before we are irked enough to snap, thus warding off the fight to extinction

It helps to ensure us mods know some people out there know how rediculous these situations can become. Humour is good, keep it coming :P

I'm glad that one ended nice too.....gee what I've missed :sandrine
Yes it does come down to thinking before you type a lot of the times, and accepting others different ways of looking at the VW world as part of life....we may not all agree but we are all part of this community and we put people off coming in with dumb bickering sometimes
Yep private conversations over differences work better if you have to do it...u2u
