Hi Neil,
Yes the larger rear glass came in 1958 until 1967...
in Australia... windscreen the same...
Does Your 60 model doors have pull out door handles and semaphores and the red glass tail lamps or
push button door handles and blinkers....
this was the late 60 model...
Tail lamps for this model are almost non existant...
only used in italy & Australia in late 60 & 1961..
Lights were Hella made in Germany.
1/2 red 1/2 amber ....
The 12 volt ring gear will not fit into the 6 volt gearbox bell housing.... without a bit of grinding....
Not much difference... though... only 4mm... in a few spots...

Lee no semaphores
push butter door handles
I am missing all the lights as well
as for the ring gear , I fitting a STI subaru motor in it with a NON vw type gear box .
In short the out side will be vw , the rest will be year 2000 +
200hp + for $4500.
Hi Neil,
OK on the subaru engine etc....
You really like challenges don't You...
The late 60 model had small narrow clear front blinkers close to the bonnet...
and the tail lamps....
I did talk to someone who had been searching for a long time and did have a pair...
I have seen two 60-61s with the correct tail lamps, I think both were on vintage club plates...
Most had them changed to the 62> tail lamps....
which are readily available....
the originals were about 30mm shorter than the 62> lamps...
Manual or auto gearbox???

Yes I do
I dont see the point of an air cooled motor now days , there slow , cost shit loads of $ to build , blow up , blow smoke , drip oil
you tell me how many $ for a air cooled motor that makes 200+ hp for $66.66 cents
or $2200.00 ej20T
I have built a trick auto here , but will fit a vw 6 rib box to this machine as I have made the adapter & fly wheel .
I must do a post on this soon
I can buy repo parts for it lights I guess
