kustomcool a 60s bug is on the cards at some stage but the missus isnt terribly keen on vws. so we need something praitical and with a bit of room and before you say it ive already suggested a kombi but she likes those less than beetles(which is frustrating because for the money we ll spend leasing i could buy a very nice splitty).lifes a bitch and then you....... rob.

the i would also recommend the H6 subies.

they go very nicely and are fairly reliable cars.

apart from that,

my mates mum gets an sv6 through work...can't say i've driven it (for legal reasons), but it seems okay. runs nicely, has a bit of power, and faily comfy overall.

My work car (repmobile) is a VY series 1, and like Craig Torrens, have experienced quite a few probs too. I take it easy in my work car but problems still arise. Under warranty so far car has had all suspension bushes changed, 2 p/steering pumps and still has a loud clunk in right front suspension that can't be found. When lease is up I will be looking at a Liberty wagon next time.....I didn't get a choice this time.
Car is comfortable though and great on fuel on country trips...to balance the ledger a bit.

Yeah, well there' better cars than a Commodore but the question was...

But yeah, Falcon is nice and BA XTs can be had for $15-ish

My 'pig' Commodore VT has done 306,000km on original everything except front swaybar bushes, some dash lights and a starter and only the left-front leccy window doesn't work

Why not try a golf TDi, or if you need a wagon, a pug 307 HDi. We got just one of the latter and it's sweet. Great acceleration for a 4 cyl diesel and much cheaper to run than a 6 or an 8. Have you looked at fuel prices lately? 👎

If you go the golf, you get your VW and ya missus gets a new euro car she can brag to her friends about. 😉

its a fully maintained lease so we dont pay for petrol and also its a limited list of vehicles we can choose from(toyota, nissan, ford, and holden). in the end i dont really care cause i would rather drive the oval instead of a new car anyway.(bit of politicing, id like to buy a 62 bug next).rob. thanks for the tips.

I drove a VY Supercharged V6 for work a while ago... The traction control is shoddy and interferes too soon, and when i turned it off the back end loved flicking about... My personal verdict... POOOOOOO!! 🙂

I'm biased though cos i believe that the "big aussie cars" are all a load of nonsense and your better off spending that money on a good car that doesnt suck back the fuel, just for the sake of beating everyone else to the next red light :P
