it is exactley a year today since i gotted the peach 54

I bin & done 9,200 happy miles to work & back & wreckers & back & shows & cruises & indeed everywhere
The car has never broken down, although it dis fail to start one morning due to flat battery because of dying regulator
total list of HAD to replaced bits is regulator, & the 2 rear brake wheel cylinders, which were leaking
so essential repairs cost about $160
Oil about$50
accessories, shop manuals "better parts" CD player
preventive maintainance etc etc $1123

Petrol, started off with 27mpg, now main average is 31mpg total cost $1537.29 -eek-

I have been "originalising" the appearance of the car as much as possible, as the oppurtunity arises, after 6 months , however I swapped the tail & brake lights wires around, as it was becoming increasingly obvious from looking in the rear mirror, that people did not see the heart brake lights real well, I have had very few problems not having indicators, always driving on the assumption that people dont see the semaphores, although most do-
biggest problem being right hand turn on busy main road with fast moving traffic, more so at night, so I avoid that situation where possible.
The original skinny brakes have been surprisingly adequate,
under 80kmh they pull up very well, over that, you have to be very careful, as they have a "no way!" feel as far as a safe rapid stop.
It only took a few days of ownership to discover just how different the early ovals are to the later ovals, I thought a dead drivers side window winder mechanism would no big deal, but had to repair it by doing cut and shut with a Humber one -mmmmmmmmm angle Grinder, I can not beleive it is still working

any way dats it - a very ancient, very reliable very happy car, that is a pleasure to use every day, I never get sick of it
Please, I need drivers side window regulator (winder mechanism) for my '54

yep, happy - even happier if I could find a drivers side window winder, pre loved (aged) german squareweave carpet set, door latch striker plates, & that is about it,
one interesting thing is the tyres are 175/80 x 15 Yokohama Super Digger 4wd !! they have actually turned out to be really excellent, dunno whether I will be able to afford replacements when they wear out though
