On my 56 beetle it has a carbon throw out bearing to release the clutch. Can these be replaced with a later ball bearing type or are the carbon ones okay? Never seen these before.
Cheers

Gee mate! You must be a youngster! Learned to drive on one of those &*@!! things as well as helping Big Brother to pull/repair the engine several times. I think the later ones fit but someone who plays with these will surely confirm one way or another.

I still remember that silly roller go-pedal and dangling the arm in the rain for signals prior to indicators. Thank heavens for the 61 and of course the Type 3s. Enjoy your Bug!

Not that young, 36.,I had a 61 which had the bearing so when I saw the carbon type I was a little confused. Might change to the bearing type
Thanks DH and vw54

That is really OLD technology... :o

Just think that millions of Beetles actually had those from new and they did work OK....
