Just wondering if anyone elses fuse panel thing under the hood is kinda loose? Mine is... and I don't think it's good to be, but there's no screws or anything to tighten it?

There is a little metal clip at one end of the fuse holder which sounds like it is missing.

Cheers Dave

Thanx Dave, you're probably right. Will scout about and see if something will fit to hold it in better. 🙂

Hi Laura,
the fuse box panel clips in on one end and has the metal clip on the other....
the plastic on the other end may be broken off too...

I don't know if the fuse cover would stay on, if the fuse box itself is loose....

If Your fusebox can move about, it could be dangerous Laura... the fusebox shouldn't move by itself...
but if You bumped it with Your knee etc...

cheers
Laura

Hi again,

thats My fusebox without its cover....
I'll have to put it on....

You can see the screw at one end.... that goes into a metal clip which holds the fusebox in position...

As You can see , all that power from the battery is very close to the metal body....

Sorry, Laura, I'm scaring Myself now...:P:P:P

My cover doesn't stay on.
I noticed the whole panel was a bit loose when I was looking at it under the bonnet trying to get my stupid stereo to work.
I don't remember seeing any screws inside my car like yours has though... I'm too tired from last night to check tonight.

It is a little metal spring clip that fits from the under bonnett side of the dash to hold it in. You should be able to buy it from a local aftermarket VW shop. Just called a fuse box clip I think. I got some when I bought a new fuse box.

Hi Laura,

If the plastic tab is broken off the end....
the clip & screw won't help much.... better than nothing
but a 'floating' fusebox can be dangerous...
Silastic could be used to hold it in place...
as I'm not sure whether the earlier 10 fuse fuseboxes are still available... it wouldn't take much to fit the 12 fuse fusebox anyway.... just a bit of filing...
I think once the fusebox is mounted properly the fusebox clear cover should stay on....

Yeah, mine definitely doesn't have that tab.

Just re-read this and couldn't stop laughing! My knee is like a foot away from the fuse panel inside the car, so no worries about me knocking it.... unless I was 7ft tall or something.... but since I'm a petite 5'1"... 😂
