So you want to experience the torqe and reliability of the type IV engine in your bug?? Well, here is your first step towards experiencing the benefits of 2L standard capacity without worrying about stroker cranks etc!

Name: Alan Agyik
Location: Gold Coast, QLD 4221
Contact: 0417 645 854 or email alanagyik@hotmail.com
Price: $600 (plus buyer pays freight)

What you see in the pics is what is included (plus dipstick bracket and tube and remote oil cooler bracket - will post pics soon). The kit comprises:

- 6 piece cylinder covers
- Alternator stand and oil filler tube (which has been modified from the stock sharbuilt setup to accept a type I filler with screw top (which has been modified and polished).
- Billet alloy crank pulley which has been polished and balanced
- hardware for cylinder covers

In addition to the standard kit is the:
- 4 piece engine bay sealing kit.
- fanshroud extension pieces (seals shroud onto the block) and oil cooler supports
- type IV oil cooler bracket
- type IV oil cooler cover and ducting

Also the fanshroud which is not normally including by sharpbuilt which required modification to suit the application (around 10 hours minimum to get a proper fit).

What is also included is the custom billet aluminium flame oil cooler line cover which bolts to the fan shroud with the polished stainless steel allen head bolts. This took many hours itself to custom make.

Not to mention the fanshroud has been powder coated, the custom painted with flame work. All other pieces (apart from lower cylinder cooling pieces (which are out of sight)) are painted in two pack base coat clear coat system and all are in extremely good condition. See the thread in the members ride section to show the rebuild of my beetle and the care I have taken to ensure things are done right.

What is NOT included but is required to get a type IV into your beetle is the fuel pump block off plate and the oil lines from the case into the cooler (which is mounted in the fan shroud ala type I setup). You will also need a pilot bush in your type IV flywheel (ideally 210 or 215mm) and and exhaust system for the application.

I am selling this because I am changing to a DTM system (which although looks great, has cost me more than double this kit).

Reply here, or U2U/email me for questions. I have done all the hard yards to make sure the kit fits right (which took quite a bit of work) so it will be a bolt on affair. You will be able to purchase the remaining parts (block off plate etc) from Mike at Sharpbuilt:

Here it is in my beetle:

Oh yeah, feel free to find out how much a new kit will cost from sharbuilt (including the above extras including fan shroud, alternator backing plate), then factor in your time to do all the fitting/trimming etc to get it to fit properly. Add in the time to weld the oil cooler support bracket to the fan shroud etc etc, that is why I am selling it for $600. Cheers.

If you'd like to give me the 20K I'll be glad to do it. 🥷

I am really happy with the type IV engine though so I can't see me changing any time soon.
