Hi Mr K,

Depends on how badly rusted the cylinders are....

Clean them with soapy steel wool.....

until they are bright....

and You can see if there are any pits rusted in the cylinder walls....

If that doesn't remove the rusted bits...
try wet & dry paper.... wet...
Can't remember what grit size i used....
I suppose if You start with a fine paper and keep going up
in coarseness until its all smooth then go over it again with the finer paper....
Only go around the cylinder...
Not up & down....[or in & out] the cylinder....

I saved mine... It depends on how long its been wet & how much water.... naturally...
My son had to replace one of His cylinders recently.....
engine had been sitting for a few years....
Best of Luck...

Yes, it doesn't take water long to eat away at freshly polished steel cylinders....

If He left the carburetor full of Fuel....
He may need another carburetor....
Unleaded fuel turns to a "Gunky slimey Yucky" mess....
and blocks the accelerator pump ball valve in the Solex carburetor....
I couldn't get Mine clear.... rest of the carby was fine....

Just can't accelerate because of the blocked valve....
in a part of the carby thats Not accessable....

Yes,
hitting the piston won't really do anything as the pressure just goes back to the crankshaft...
You will have to try to turn the engine over.....
by hand.....
You have to be careful of the cylinders too, as the fins break off if bent...

You may have rust between the piston rings....??

You have a big problem there.....

best of Luck

it appears that it does have rust between the rings.i can rotate the motor....but the rusty piston and cylinder move together freely.i will try a few things later.......but if nothing works would cutting the cylinder off with a grinder be advised ...or not.....then just replace them........also...if im going to keep this car for awhile ..is it best to put 4 new ones in instead of just one?

Could you take the other pistons off and then work "through" the case and take the rod off the crank.

then soak it in kero or something??

New piston/cylinder kits are not that dear. $2-300. Buy a new set
