the wheel i posted is a wheel to be made in the USA with the above mentioned 'dave deal's blessing... and you should be able to get a set landed for about $1700 AUD.I was at reknowned artist Dave Deal's house, picking up some artwork. I drove my Silver Oval with the EMPI Raders. When Dave came out to see me out the driveway of his house, he said "oh, cool, Rader wheels" -I told him I was surprised that he even knew what they were, and he told me he had made a prototype Rader, that never went in to production. I asked him what became of that wheel, and he replied that he still had it, down in his basement. Well, of course, I just had to see it, and after about an hour of digging around, we found it, so I cleaned up the rust on the outer, steel portion of the wheel, shined up the edges of the spokes, and took some photos of it, and ran the photo in VW Trends Magazine, along, I think, with a stash of in-the-box EMPI radios I had uncovered at another San Diego location. Well, whaddya know, about 6 months after that photo of the "Der Steiner Rad" was in the magazine, I see a NEW wheel, produced in limited numbers in Europe, that is an *EXACT* copy of Dave Deal's prototype. Maybe the worst part, besides the fact that the design was obviously pirated, and Dave couldn't spend the time and money fighting International copyright laws, is that another gentleman, in Norway, had been in contact with Dave about reproducing the wheels, and he and Dave had agreed, and the guy from Norway was in the process of getting the CAD drawings, from which to manufacture the wheel. The guy from Norway had spent a lot of time and money getting permission, and getting the project off the ground, when the pirate copies appeared, effectively killing the guy from Norway's investment in doing it the correct, honest, way. To this day, I don't believe Mr. Deal has heard a peep from the people who are making those wheels, although they do know where the idea and design came from. I don't like, nor will I condone, thievery of any type, and to me, that's exactly what those "Der Steiner Rad" wheels are.
