Hi Nicole,
they are very fragile as they are made from aluminium...
are all Yours missing?

yeah, you might want to get the stainless steel ones from a 1968/69 model - look the same (thin) but much tougher
Pay your debts, CxxT
let me know how you go ive got a couple beetles that model with complete strips .
i should have a spare set up at the old mans what are they worth to you

dont really know what they are worth and being a superbug i am told the bonnet strip is a bit longer. but let me know if you have a set and a price that you think is fair.
well they are off a 72 sbug and as for the price ill get back to you after i have a look at them in a week or so

i recon aluminum super strips should be free (ugly and weak), ive got some to give away, but am in melbourne
The 3 front strips from a 1971-72 1302S SuperBug are
entirely different to those -
on a 1973-75 1303S SuperBug.....
and different again to a 1971-76 non super Beetle.....
The aluminium ones can be polished with steel wool soap pads and can also be painted....
the stainless steel or chrome ones with car polish...
unless You want to paint them...

Hi Nicole,
You will need new plastic clips for the bright strips
on Your car.....
they are very cheap from any VW shop like Mick Motors...
cheers

you will also need to purchase the clips to fit the strips
will wait to here back from you thanks nicole
Hi Nicole,
Does Your car still have the holes for the strips???
All mine were brazed up....
I wanted the bonnet holes brazed up as I bent the strip taking it off....
and My Son thought I wanted all of the holes brazed up...
I'm not game enough to drill them again....
No strips are much better than - None straight strips...
spoils the look of a car...

hey lee,
not trying to have a go but i know from experience that 71-72 Superbugs use the same as the 73-75 Lbugs
i replaced the crappy aluminium ones on my Lbug with the original stainless ones off my 71 superbug and they were all the same lenght even the bonnet one

WOW... learn something every day
Would have sworn Lee was right. The bonnents are different lengths, but thinking the 1302 has the grill there, so i guess the stip could/would be the same length
I would have also bet the front side piece was different
Oh well... live and learn
Futue te ipsum!!!
i dont really know what they are worth?

Hi Joel,
thats OK...
but the front
side strips on a 73-75 1303S or L Beetle are different
looking,
they are very wide between the rain channel and the start of the bonnet then go narrow......
Unless the wide strip is actually Two strips...???
Lee

Thats correct Lee
it is 2 pieces
Futue te ipsum!!!
I never thought they were two pieces...
sitting against each other.... strange....
I have seen 1303S [L] Supers with only the single narrow strip on the side
but I always thought that the strip had come from another Beetle...
it may have been an after thought.... by VW....
all the strips from a SuperBug -1302S 1303S-
wouldn't be worth much Nicole...
as mostly they would be thrown away....
Just make sure they aren't dented, twisted etc...
as they can't be undented....
[not by normal people... anyway]

So.... translate into universal language..... 1 slab 😂

like barry said the trim piece that covers the windscreen cowl/quarter panel joint goes on first then the trim clips hold it in place with the strip over the top
when i first painted my Lbug i left these off as they looked like a peice of fascia of an old 70s fridge but i put them back on when i returned my car to original
i thought the quarter and bonnet strips would have been different to
the original aluminium ones on my Lbug were looking pretty 2nd hand and i noticed one day in the WCM catalog that 71-79 supers all use the same kit with a 935mm hood and 715mm frnt qtr so i tried the original stainless ones off my 71 super and low and behold they fit LOL
Joel
Well I've learnt something Joel....
I will admit when it comes to 1303S or L Beetles....
I've never owned one.... and don't have any books on them.....
although some books /manuals cover everything... :P:P
cheers

sounds good to me as long as they are in good condition
thanks
nicole i have the strips here with me in caloundra.
let me know if u would like to come pick up.
they are all in excellent condition.
i think one has a teeny bit of over spray but a bit of a rub with some thinners and it would be sweet.
$25
ill send you a U2U
