I have been thinking it would nice to be able to cook up some food by using the engines heat.

Nothing to fancy maybe just as simple as sitting a tin of bake beans on the muffler while driving.

I think I saw this on Seinfield once where Crammer was cooking a roast but the engine caught on fire. (bad example but I am sure it could be done)

Any thoughts??

I've seen it on a watercooled car. Run the coolant through a coil of copper tube which sits in a can of water. I think it would take a while but eventually it would warm up enough to heat yer baked beans.

I remember a TV show about Ben Dark who drove an old Holden Statesman in the outback and he tried that with potatoes in alfoil on the block and a hot water coil to cook things. I don't think he had much success.

This used to be an occasional topic in Poular Mechanics in the '60s and '70s (last century). If memory serves, wrap the sausages in al-foil, wire them to the exhaust manifold and burn down the interstate for 30 minutes.

For maximum synergy and redneck points, use this method for cooking roadkill.

yep ,works perfectly, get your pot of stew or last nights dinner ,something a bit sloppy preferably and fix it to the exhaust manifold ,dont worry about trying to use the coolant its not hot enough,i used a steel plate that i made up that was bolted to the manifold and had like a battery strap over it that kept the lid on and stopped it going everywhere, when you get where your goin instant hot good food:beer:beer:beer:
