just 2 months ago we got this to go all those places we could not get to in the kombi, we had only done 2 day trips 600km
it had only 85000 kms on it
& then last week some nice people decided to use it in an unsuccessful Ram Raid in Burwood Plaza

Burwood Plaza in Vic? If so a fair drive. Thats such bad luck. Why can't those idiots use their own cars for once.

yep it did not go far, tight fit to get in, so both sides are swiped, & it was numerous nast hits, they left it with the engine running & broken radiator, which aint good

Good advertisement for buying another one though. Certainly seems to have absorbed a lot of the impact.

see what the salvage value is & decide whether to patch it up, & then have a car that no one will park real close to
or see what I can get for $6000, 1990's Jeep Cherokees are cheap because the trendies dont want them anymore

wow! never seen a bullbar bend like that before! tough luck indeed, would be pretty cool to see it back on the road though, to scare the pants off the guys who used it. 😀

are Jeeps really that bad ?
I liked the Patrol, except for how wide the track is

if I partially fixed it I am sure peaple coming the other way on a narrow track would back off or move over when they saw all the damage though:P

How does the wheelbase measure up? Cut that ugly box off of it and put a beetle body on. Awesome MoFo baja bug!

'tis about the same as kombi, would have to drive from the back seat though due to size of the (truck) motor

OK so the series landrover is none of the above...what about an early landrover discovery or range rover...in my experience any of these two are reliable, comfortable and easy for parts...i have a 93 disco which i bought last year in immaculate condition for 5K...it is a V8 auto but returns about the same mileage as my kombi...1.8 auto...the discovery did come out with a turbo diesel and they are equally if not better of the two...just look at each years different 4WD awards... you will find landrover is always one of the better 4WD's on the market...

I like the Discovery & Range Rover (my sister has had a Range Rover for the past 20 years) but I have seen horrific amounts of money sunk in, good is fantastic, bad is $$$$$ so a bit scared
with the current petrol hoo haa now is the time to buy, before people get over it

And there is bugger all room in them. They are a 5 seater - just.

Sorry - o wouldnt be recomending one of them

my old man is on his third patrol now.

the first one was a real pig, 3 speed box. as truck as a truck could be. Me and the sister used to have to sit on the metal wheel arches in the back. ouch. no seatbelts, nuffin. the 'good' old days. it was an early 70's job I think.

then he got a GQ 2.8 turbo diesel. Heaps of torque but got hot on long hills.

now he's got a newish one, that I wouldnt have a clue what the model is again.

Sometimes he likes to go offroad and parks on the lawn.
