Currently have door and deck lid locks at the locksmiths trying to get the barrels altered to match the key that fits ignition (all are from different type one's)

Locksmith is having problems, does anyone know where I can find him some technical information on the internals of Dub locks?

usually if the key slides in the barrel, the locksmith can usually get it to fit/unlock/lock, but if the key doesnt want to go in the hole, ull probly have no chance of making it work
cheers

VW used about 20 different keys in Beetles and type 2-3s

Mick Motors sells the blanks....

I have 4 keys for My beetle....
one for each door, ignition and engine lid....
Bit of a pain....
The locks do have the VW code stamped on them if thats any help....
I'll be just happy if I can get another set of spare keys...
I also have 4 spare door handles and keys and 3 engine lids with keys... but Only one ignition key...cylinder...
and the previous owner stamped the VW number on each key......
I think maybe the people who knew all the info are long gone....

lee, my bug was the same

when i bought it the owner dumped 9 keys in my hand and said good luck LOL

its not that hard to fix but theres 2 ways to do it
proper way and cheap bodjo way (filing tumbler pins down)
i rekeyed my doors and decklid to match the ignition by changing all the pins around till it worked right

the new style ignition barrels now use those stupid symetrical i think there is a later water cooled vw with keys like that that the door tumblers are the same as bug ones
anyone know which?
i think its golf II and audi fox??
