Any one use Dodo??

Another son wants a mobile and there phone rates are 7.5c compared to Virgin (at best) 20c or Telstra/Optus and the like at 35c

I am only providing him a $20/month type thing - anything else and he can pay for it.

Personally I couldnt go with a company called Dodo. The commonly used phrases "dead as a dodo" "dumb as a dodo" would scare me off.

The limitations are in the ISP bandwidth, underground cabling and the exchanges. The only way I can see anyone speeding that up would be either providing priority access at the ISP (once other people jump on the priority list, you are back to square one) or compressing everything at their end and then uncompressing it at your end (which all takes time anyway) Plus, I'd also be worried that dial up is limited to 56k theoretical maximum. to increase by 19 times you would have to be currently running at under 3k. You'd have to be a sadistic masochist to be doing that, the typical mobile phone gets something like 14.

Thats my elementary understanding anyway... which could be well wide of the mark.

with any mobile phone plan, check how much it costs per minute or 30 seconds, and also check the flagfall charges.

im with 3 on a $28 maxi plan. minimum spend is $28 and i get 9c per 30 seconds with a 15c flag fall. text messages cost me 15 cents. my usual monthly bill is between $60 - $80.

Cap plans - BEWARE. they say you get $120 worth of credit for $30... but your call rate ran be twice as a regular plan. i wanted to go on a $49 cap with 3, but after seeing a 25c per 30 seconds with a 25c flag fall, i wasnt interested. same goes for optus and anyone else that offers cap plans.
my friend renae is currently dealing with a $1000 phone bill from an $89 cap plan.

do the research, check them all out. ive never heard of anyone on a dodo mobile plan, but check out the details all the same.

I was at Westfields the other day and just wandered from mobile shop to mobile shop.

3 never quoted me anything like the figure you are talking about. They were up there with Telstra etc etc.

I have an old phone. Might just try the Dodo and see what receiption is like.
If any good then i will get him a propper phone

i had my spare phone on the turbo charge cap which is good if ur like me and live on ur mobile u can either get $30 = $120 or $50 = $250 and it also rolls over if u recharge b4 the 30 days is up
but it doesnt allow a few things like me2u, downloading ringtones and screensavers and i think no premium texts either which sux
optus are bit dear tho at 37c/30sec but on a cap it doesnt really matter

i'm on optus turbocharge (and the student plan...)

they have an unannounced plan specifically for students.

i pay $30 - get $120
i get 100free minutes to ANY phone
i get 400 free sms's to ANY phone

and i can download ringtones, use the unternet, and send messages to premium ringtone sites.

works perfectly for me!

just checked my account. yup, its 9c per 30 seconds.
im on the 3G network, maybe the plan only suits that?

for kids, you're much better off getting prepaid setup anyway. that way, you buy them $20 worth of credit, and thats all they have unless theyre willing to fork out the cash for more credit. my little brothers last phone bill was huge, even though he is on the same plan as me. he no longer has a phone...
