!!!COMMUNITY SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!
I had a really bright idea a while ago, got a nice beetle floorpan that I wanted to keep out of the weather. Not much room in the shed, so why not hang it from the roof frame, above the Oval? No it didn't fall on the Oval, tied up too well for that.
I've hit my head on the shock towers that many times that its been really pi$$ing me off, you know bent over looking in a box or whatever, stand up straight and bang!! Hurts a bit for 30 sec but its OK....
Well the Oval got taken on Sunday, so in the arvo methinks hey I'll just quickly clean up the floor before I roll the "new" Oval into the shed. Fair enough. So I'm on about my third trip into the shed, looking down at what to pick up next, walking quickly as its getting on a bit and I want to get this done. Next thing you know, whack, I've smacked my head on the front edge of the framehead right where the beam would bolt on, fell over from the force of the impact...FAAARK that hurts. So I stagger around the driveway until the Mrs comes out the back to see what all the fuss is about.:o:o:o
Sure enough after I take my hat off theres a bit of blood coming from my head so much to my dismay its off to the doc, but oh no, no stitches. We've got a better idea we got this special glue, so we can just glue your scone back together. Great until the doc has to put pressure on it while the glue sets, it started to hurt more than the impact. Then he lets go and I start feelin dizzy, told my wife hey I don't feel so good.....next thing you know I'm thinking hey why is everyone frantically saying my name, and why am I looking at the ceiling...yep I passed out.
So by the time this was all over, so was the day, one last thing when I stop feeling dizzy and convince everyone I'm OK, go out to the shed with the old man and take down the pan. At least I can learn from my mistakes. On the upside I got Monday off work, and I've had plenty to talk to my customers about when they ask what's up with my weird looking hairdo (can't wash my hair yet or the glue will disappear)
So don't hang your pan from the roof framing, unless its really high up, or you are good at looking up even when you want to pick $hit up off the ground....:thumb

I shouldn't laugh, but that's a kack.😁
Reminds me of changing an engine in a bug some years back. Had the bootlid wedged open with a pole. Couldn't get the motor to come out so I was giving it a big wriggle when the pole loose...and the bootlid dropped from it's highest point and hit me on the top of the head...HARD. So hard in fact that all I heard was the BOnG! Didn't even hurt. Seconds later blood pouring out of my scalp, my bro managed to find the dirtiest rag in my house (after I'd directed him to the clean ones). Later that day I was in Zombi land with concussion. When I went to the doctor, he went mental telling me he'd seen people die from being hit in the head with the edge of the bonnet. I didn't tell him this, where the bootlid hit me was a inch from where the screws come through for the rego plate...🤪
i am currently restoring a 72 super and i have 2 trifin surfboards tied up in riif above the car. The other day i had it out working on it and heard a bang!. 2 surfboards now on the ground. LUUUUCKY!!. would have been mighty p**sed off.
Oh man that's got to hurt - but your read on it is damn funny. 😀😀
I got bitten by a floorpan once. I stepped over a floorpan section, with legs either side to try and move it. Instead of dragging it, I slid it between my legs and sliced open the back of my knee about 2 cms long. I looked at it, and thought she'll be ok. So I went home, washed it out with friars balsam, and thought that would be it. The next few days it starts to get itchy, so I scratch it in my sleep. The next morning my leg from thigh to ankle has balooned up. So I finally visit the docs. It turns out that the friars balsam burnt around the cut, I scratched it, infected it, and ended up with dermatitis. The moral of the story - see a doc if in doubt. 🤓🤓🤓
I sympathise completely.
Every time I've scalped myself, kneecapped myself, broken a toe or just landed flat on my face, chances are I put it there myself.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.
OMG, glad you're alright! Some funny stories here though... :P
if your dog did that or walked into the clothes line all the time you'd nearly put him down, most people would learn to duck after the first couple of times, good on ya
did ya have a concussion?

I am reminded of the joke about the African chief who was given a big heavy throne for his grass hut. He didn't like it so he put it up in the loft in the roof space. One night it fell on him and severely injured him. The moral of the story is. People who live in grass houses shouldn't stow thrones.

Yeah I know, I was going to leave it there till the buyer takes it but not after this. My hindsight is 20/20 and yeah we should have taken it down. At least your mate didn't hit it on the way out

Sounds just like me, every time I hurt myself I keep thinking, jeez I wish I didn't put that there / step there / put my arm up there etc

Dunno but the dull headache has finally gone away!!
Thanks everyone, I'm glad I got this going, keep the funny stories coming people. Might need to rename the thread "funny VW accident tales" or something like that. It wasn't funny at the time like every accident but now I can see the humour in it when I look back at it.
The great thing is I can't guarantee I won't have a similar flash of brilliance sometime in the future :P :P
shaihulud I've never heard that one before its a funny twist on a well used saying :thumb
