My generator (6 volt) light is coming on at high revs.

When idling it is off. I have recently replaced the brushes after the red light was on constantly.

I have read the IDIOT Guide but there is no mention of this particular problem.

Has anyone experienced this problem and solved it?
Can anyone poiint me in the right direction as to what to check?

Many thanks.

at a guess,
I would say its its Your regulator...
Your generator is probably putting out the volts but Your voltage regulator isn't doing its job...
You need to check the output at the generator at high revs....
Unusual problem...
normally its the other way round...
I would try another regulator...

If you change the brushes only without machining the commutator pefectly round ,the new brushes will bounce at high revs .They may only last a short time due to arcing at each revolution.

also check that the fan belt is not too loose as it may slip at high revs.. really sounds like the reg as well.. goodluck with it

yes you have to pull the genny apart and have the commutator machined to match the new brushes also check the tension of the brush springs these may have weakened

this is your problem
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true
