Here's the latest from the VW guys in Darwin. Approx 14 VW, the scary thing is this would have to be the largest gathering of VW's in many many years. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come in the topend.

I'd suggest this is the first VW get together in Darwin (other than our 4 car cruise over a month ago...)

And Desert Bug you are still up there...wow!! How long are you up there for??

OK big question.....so does the WET stop cruises happening and why?? OK I know you get BIG storms and things can flood in places...but??

A question...would you spend New Year's Eve in Katherine or Jabiru?? THEN would you spend Christmas day in the other...or somewhere else other than Darwin??

Reason...2 1/2 weeks leave I have to take and we are doing the Top End...IN THE WET!!! Call me crazy😁

Don't tell Eddie how hot it is....and I just keep telling him that there will be lots of rain...he's happy ....shhhhh

There are heaps of vw's up here but no real collective of people. I've been wanting something to happen up here for years but didn't have a car on the road, now I have 2. In time I'm sure it will grow.

In general there aren't really many car cruises in the wet, or at least I can say I've never been on one. Gets pretty hot and humid and without a/c it's not really enjoyable.

Should you be up here we should organise something.

If you're up here in 2 1/2 weeks there won't be alot of rain, if any, and there should still be some cool weather around. Then the build up will hit, affectionately known as the silly season as it drives people crazy....

Can't really comment on News Years or Chrissie. Would depend who you were with and what you wanted to be doing. I certainly suggest as a visitor there would be more to do in Darwin...

Getting on the wharf is a shit fight at the moment. The road is shocking due to construction of the convention centre. Is always nice down there for dinner though :thumb

am down here and even found a white beetle in the Airmens Mess carpark (there was also a white one on the tarmac at Bris Airport when we flew out yesterday).
