So if I clean the injectors and replace the inlector seals will the system not suck in air as it is running way too lean.

there are 1 million other joints to consider before you condem the injector, have you checked all the other hoses and clamps ,fuel pressure etc
Don't argue with an idiot; people watching may not be able to tell the difference.

best thing to do is if you think its injectors, take them to a place that cleans them and have them tested for flow. you can then see whether they are performing as they should be

The problem is the system is too lean. He reckons that air is getting n somewhere. He said the first place to start was the injectors. Maybe the seals between the injector and the manifolds are leaking and this is where the air is getting in. Any ideas as to where leaks occur? The dynatune mob say that the efi is a good way to go however maybe I just need to put on a good set of carbs so I can get the bus regoed and useable. How do I use the efi fuel pump with carbs? Do I connect the feul pump with a relay or just onto the coil ingition wire? All the kombi needs is a Carbon Monoxide test and the enginners certificate and then rego test.

Well, youve got a few options for air leaks.
However, the air can only get in between the manifold end castings, injector "O"rings and the base of the throttle body along with any rubber joints in between.

That narrows down your search.

Im not exactly familiar with the Kombi injection manifold setup but I suspect there are the odd few joints and gaskets along the way along with injector "O"rings.

Iin my view, Id remove the end castings, the manifolds and throttle body, seperate the lot, clean all the mating surfaces reeeel well, cut out some new gaskets and re-assemble the entire setup with any tubular rubber joints replaced along with new hose clamps.

Fit new "O"rings to the injectors.

Lastly, as a matter of course, id replace every length of rubber tubing running around there in case the existing clobber has gotten old and cracked or dropped off a nipple somewhere in some sneaky place you cant readily see.

Just do the manifold job first and then replace each rubber tube one at a time sos you dont mix up the connections.

Id estimate a couple of hours work tops along with the cost of assorted bits of rubber tubing, clamps and gasket paper/sealant (use the like of Permatex NON hardening or similar)

For a small cost and some time, you can eliminate any air leak before being forced into the retofit of some carbs.

Thanking you for this advice. This is what this forum is all about. On monday I will get the injectors cleaned and get replacement tubing. I will clean all the joints well and reglue all joints. I have new hose clamps and I will see how it all goes next week. If still too lean then retrofit teh carbs will be the go.

Easy as M8
let us know how it all ends up.

There must be some form of adjustment in there to fool the thing if its not an air leak tho.

Sadly, I have not even played with a VW injection setup.
best of luck M8
