I just pulled the carbies off my 1800 van for a cleanout and check.
before I cleaned them out the engine responded badly to acceleration (would die) and was fairly gutless.
Now that I have unclogged conduits & jets, fixed leaks etc a new problem is manifesting.
My van has gone from a horribly running, passably idling, badly accelerating 60km/h maximum to something else.
Now it goes maybe 30km/h. Accelerates much better, and can idle very unsteadily sometimes(300 to 1700 rpm constantly drifting).
at 30km/h it just sort of ran out of oomph. Which is strange because it is quite easy to get moving, and can sustain decent revs without cutting out. It also handles the slope of the driveway without issue.
Both before and after it had a misfiring (or something) problem yet to be diagnosed. It remains unchanged.
What on earth could be causing this? I'm getting frustrated with this. It seems every problem is masking another one!
