Fenrayer,

My thoughts are with you and your family - its such a shock to the system to have a family member injured in an accident.

Dont give up on the idea of you father walking again though. While I'm not a doctor, and I dont know your full situation, I have had an uncle knocked off his motorbike at 70kph by and elderly gent who turned in front of him.... Ian T Boned his car, smashed his legs on the handlebars, hit the windscreen hard enough to smash it and break his helmet... he had pelvis broken in 4 or 5 places, both knee caps fractured, 1 femur fracture, right shinbones in many pieces, broken toes etc etc. After many pins and months in recovery he is now almost as mobile as before. He wont run a marathon, but he gets around just fine, and is back flying ultralights etc 5 or 6 years after the accident.

Also, I had a good mate who was unfortunate enough to hit a big jarrah tree between bunbury and perth in his commodore at ~90kph.... with a car and car trailer hitched on. Airbags saved his life, but not his right leg, which looked liek it "had three knees". Again, after the miracle of surgery and rehab / physio he now gets around well enough to play a round of golf.

Belief in the ability to heal has a hell of a lot to do with the actual healing process - so have faith if you can, and I'll cross my fingers for him as well.

All the best,

Doug
