I was thinking of buying a sandblaster cabinet for home, and not knowing much about sandblasting I was wondering if anyone can help me out.

The cabinet I'm looking at is an enclosed unit ( www.stanblast.com) but I was wondering, can you re-use media like sand etc? wouldn't it become contaminated with rust and paint and block the sandblaster.

Has anyone used a pot type sandblaster and can give me some feedback on the results.

Thanks

Steve

I don't have a cabinet, I just suit up and use a garden shed. The sand blasting gun I have is not all that powerful, it's probably limited by the size of my compressor. I reuse the media (sand) many times. The tube and passages the sand runs through are quite big and generally don't clog up. You will find that the rust and paint tend to end up as a fine powder. If you do get large particles in the sand, use a kitchen strainer to get them out.

My blaster is not a pot type, it has a long rubber tube which you dunk in a bucket of sand. If you had a cabinet like that, I would just put the bucket under the outlet at the bottom. That would save you having to fill up the pot.

I have a cabinet sandblaster and the biggest pain is that it only runs a 12 volt fluro light. It is just not bright enough to show up all the detail you need to see.

The one in your link looks pretty cool. Just make sure it has a light.
