Just a quick question, how much would you expect to pay for a freshly restored 71 karmann Cabriolet beetle? It has been sheeded for past 15 years and has only done about 80,000 km. Totally stock apart from the RHD conversion, comes with spare set of rims, everything like new.

One sold on here recently for high teens; beautiful white 1970 flat-screen in Vic, I think

But is it freshly restored OR has it been shedded for 15 years?!

Mines priceless-to me, on the other hand it's only worth what someone else is willing to pay. I may think mine is worth 20 grand but if no-one was going to pay more than 5 grand what is the value? If it's good, buy it then it's yours to enjoy and you'll not be saying what if? years down the track, I mean they're not going to making any more of them are they!!

The older you get the more you can expect to pay. I have a 61 Factory RHD and with the top costing 5k alone to restore, expect to pay for one. If its an Oval era cab then the price shoots up again. The issue with them in Australia is that there are so few of them. Most are LHD imports but there seems to be a few other 61's around too.

Thanks

Steve

George has his LHD early going for 8k. Matara is right re the roof. They are $5k to renew.

So.....depending on the era of what you have and the condition, expect to pay anything between $5000 for something that requires full restoration and is a late model, to $40000 for something of the quality of Ray Black's restored early. The one you have mentioned, if it is a full restoration I'd expect to go for $17000 upwards.

Yes Glenn, that one in Vic was smick and was a good buy at $21000.

I've read that there may be just over 50 in Australia.....so they are rare, but not that dear....yet.

They seem to be in the high teens for a good one. We are restoring a 72 and by the time itis finished, it will probably have cost us 25k. We wanted a car that we knew what had been done in the restoration process as we don't expect to ever sell it but it will be like it came from the factory when finished.

There was a bloke in Bendigo who was replicating them years ago , these cars a HARD to pick from the real deal. He was also replicating Hebmullers also to a very high standard.

If there is 80,000ks on the clock then it is not from the States as their speedos are in miles, so may have 80k miles on the clock. Who has the Hobart one. volma1
They are still there, just have faith you'll find one.

Is tha 50 LHD ones?
That was 50 all up - not including LHD imports. Read it in the Telegraph about a year ago when they had a write up on them. Not sure how accurate it is.
