Split the crank case and pulled out all those loverly bits and pieces i've never seen before. I'm tearing it down to get it all cleaned up good as new but whilst i've got the engine apart, is there any new parts i should look at replacing whilst i'm here to get some improved performance? Its going to be a daily driver so i dont need break neck speeds but a bit more power than the stock 1600 output would be great
yea definantly worth putting a few bits and pieces in now. 1600's are a common motor im sure there would be some parts floating around the forum for pretty cheap. Just wait for a reply from another bug driver and good luck ;-)
get the case checked out and line bored for new bearings
Consider an mild cam. I will say check V Force for their AP2 cam?? Sort of like an Porsche Super 90 grind
Conside a bit of work to the heads.
New exhaust valves and a 3 angle valve grind. Get the compression set to about 8:1
Have the crank checked - possible grind and at least a polish
When the crank is ready have all the rotating parts sent off for a balance.
