Hi people i need one kombi cv joint for my conversion on my beetle, i thought i had 4 but turns out i have only 3, used one is fine as i have to machine them to fit the type 1 cv axle, thanks for any help, cheers Damo.
This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

Errr.....it's the axel you machine, not the CV?? My axles were machined to fit standard Combi CV's.

I always counter bore the cv inner to clear the axle shoulder.

This way the axle remains untouched and does not remove any axle mayerial.
Both ways work.

Nope you can leave the axle and machine the CV if you wish. You machine a bit of the spline out so the spline length is the same as a beetle.

Techinically this is a stronger way to do it does not create the same weak spot in the axle, which technically makes it better, i guess :thumb

I will machine the cv to what Dangerous said, sounds like a better way.

I'm aware it can be done that way,,,just more work if they require replacement later on so was wondering why you were going that way.Just curious.....
