i just have to say how cool my 10yo daughter courtney is...
at the moment she is doing orienteering for sport, when she got in (after running around the bush all afternoon in the rain, then being dragged through the shops by my wife) she showed me the orienteering map. i noticed one of the controls was labelled "car wreck", of course this peaked my interest. when asked she said that was a tractor (actually a totalled 40's? Dodge), "but dad i found a buggy".
as i was in a parts hunting mood that was it...
after only a miniscule afternoon tea (she eats what i eat for dinner when she gets home from school) we were off. (with a backpack full of tools just in case...)
she didn't care that she was tired and it was raining she was going to show me were the "buggy" was.
*please note the orienteering course was on crown land (TSR) so there was no worries about tresspassing or questions re ownership of any cars.*
after wandering a bit and checking out the remains of a few dead cars we came apon the beetle... to my surprise, pleasure and sadness it was once a 56/7 oval but was now very very bent out of shape (not even the dash was salvageable).
still there was pickings to be had and courtney was happy to help, play and generally wander around in the drissle for an hour and a half with nothing but "i'm having fun" while i pulled off what i could.
she even wants to go back tomorrow if i got to try and get the stuff i missed.
this might be silly to most of you but i think courtney is excellent and wanted to share...

thats great she must be a very thoughtfull young girl to aknowledge that her daddy might be interested in something she found
my oldest girl is 6 and she is self absorbed and my oldest boy is 12 and unless its a video game he has no interest it anything his parents love or do
she deserves a extra bit off pocket money this week LOL
:P
What a champ, you should be very proud of her (and yourself).
A POSSE AD ESSE.
I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.
Sounds like a top little sort to me.
I dream of a day when a chicken can cross a road without being asked for it's motive!
top bananna, could you send her back and get some photos?
any chance i could borrow her and send her out round perth area to find splitty kombi's?
cheers jon
