A new buying and selling area for AVD?

Maybe we need a new area of this forum for selling non VW related stuff. I'd use it heaps. I'll put up my hand to moderate it too if it gets approval.

I'd like to have a go at selling heaps of stuff but a bit intimidated by the thought of breaching ettiquette.

I don't care which way it goes..... But I think it should be done one way or the other.
Because a lot of people are doing it now, so it should be ok for everyone or stop all together.

I also think that people that place adds for multiple of the same parts over and over (VW or other wise) Should need to post in the business forum. As some people are clearly using the forum for profit but are not registered as a business.

and include prices, none of this'u2u for price' 'expression of interest' or similar. I could put my whole household including kids up for 'expressions of interest' 'if the price is right' or my favourite 'this is the lowest next time will be higher' :blah:blah:blah



you want to sell, follow the rules. maybe a pro forma to fill out.

But many people refuse to use ebay. Those that do will continue pollute other forum areas by posting links to their ebay items... as I have done. Half the time I cant be bothered going through and setting up an ebay listing for something I dont want, I just would like to get rid of. What if I dont want to pay ebay fees or paypal fees? If a person doesnt like the idea they have no need to go into that section, just as I have never been in ICE or rats, it hurts nobody to have 1 ore link on the index page.

If it were to become a disk space issue then we just make the rule that everything a month old gets pruned out. I see positives, I see no negatives.

If it follows same rules as other buy and sell sections, then it would be ok I believe. Pruning of month old is a very good idea. Keeps sellers on their toes if they want to continue listing item, especially as they will be non VW items. I have sold a couple of non VW items on this forum before and would have used it.

It may be a good idea to limit it to sell only. Maybe? Call it Trading Post section or something similar

I think it's a fine idea. Most people now advertise it as NOT VW if it's... well, not VW. So why not just a subsection of the for sale area as NOT VW?

I think it could be good if as Helbus said, it's more like a Trading Post for non-VW related items... sellers only.

And it would definitely need to be pruned once a month. :P

So what your saying is you want to use AVD as a way to make money selling your hobby. Not to sell your old stuff you have laying around.
Just because there is a lot of people on here shouldn't mean its a place to make money. Sure if you want to make money go to the " Business Advertisements" part of the forum. If not use ebay or something like it.
I think to many people abuse the forum, by trying to make a profit from its members. If your going to sell like a business you should PAY like a business. Or take it to ebay.
On the other hand, if your going to move a bit of stuff that you don't need anymore (which you are not going to get more of to sell) then its fine.

Dude, I'm not too bothered if the other area doesnt get setup, I wont post anything 4 sale here unless I think it may be of interest to others. No big deal. But I'm not out to make money from selling my hobby. I'm building a new house. I have to get rid of everything I can because I dont want to pay a fortune for 6-12 mopnths worth of storage. If I was out to make money then my business idea is very flawed. Buy VHS tapes, hold on to them for several years until the technology is way outdated and then try to sell them for a fraction of the cost that I bought them for.
