The originals were cast alloy....
You could't bent them....

I have seen them on all model beetle rear fenders/guards/wings..

I don't like the idea of the screw in it....
would be better if You had a choice....

the ones pictured look like the cheap and nasty repros - ie: the ones on ebay - id pay $40 if they're lucky

the good ones as mentioned above go for big $$

Yeap,
now have a set of Flat Four repros of the Robri ones (stupid me didn't buy the set of Robri ones when I saw them in Europe) complete with shoe scraper but also have a set of teh ones shown above (with teh front stailess (i think aluminium) bits as well. Oh well, come completion of the oval I will have a clear out.
Agree with Lee though, would be better if you didn't have to 'hole' your guards for them but if its what you really want on there, its what you have to do.

My best mate brought a set of repros back from the US years ago as a gift - they didn't go anywhere NEAR fitting the shape of the guards...

Haven't seen those Sime,
the ones you have are the same as my spares/left overs. You bolt through the running board and have two bolts through the guard as well. The front ones have tabs that you bend around the front guard lip to hold them in place.

Which ones? the sort pictuired or the Robri/Flat four style ones?

If the ones that are pictured is what you are after, yes,. lot spf places have them. If Micks didn't (I see that you are in QLD) then either Classic VW or Vintage VW would be able to sort you out (if not, I have a rear set as above and a front set somewhere as well that I don't need)

If you are after the Robri/Flat four style ones, then I am not that sure, but try the three shops above first. If they can't help then try VW Pacific (Roy from there, he used to be on the forum, but is no longer here. He used to carry them in his bug line, but I think he may be only into Type 2's now)

Excellent--Thanks for that, I owe you one of these:beer

Deffinately interested in your spares if theyre in good nick any chance of a pic ?-- an of course-- how much?
Cheers , Al .

Just as a thought for those not wanting to drill if they are a good (very) fit there is some excellent marine silicon adhesive out there and use screw heads to blank the holes , like I said --just a thought,

Shall look for them and take a pic when I find them. I have both the front and rear ones. The ones above are the rear and are the type I picked up in Canberra a few years ago. The front ones are sort of like a boomerang shape that wraps around the bottom rear and up the side of the front guards. They are only about 12cm long on each arm.

As a trail from your thought above, you could glue/seal them to a thinnish sheet of rubber (say 1.5 or 2mm) for it to act as padding them mount the rubber etc to the guard with your glue/sealant.
