Apparently in some other state (not Victoria) QLD? if a car is modified and receives an engineer's certificate, it gets some sort of additional plate in the car as a permanent record.

Is this the same in Victoria?

🙂 Oh the joy of getting a new caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar 🙂

I've never heard of or seen one in NSW....

I've only heard of an engineers certificate which is usually carried by the owner in the car....
for when the police pull you over..... lol...

a plate sounds much better.... more permanent...

Yep, you get a report, Vicroads keep a copy of the engineers report, and best you do in your glovebox too for the lovely boys in blue that love to hassle you for modified cars...

so..............IF a car is registered in Vic with lets say a water cooled motor in a bug, and the water cooled motor is on the registration papers that means VicRoads has a copy of the Eng report some where???

Yes. its the 'where' that may be the interesting part, but they certainly should have somewhere.
Depends how old the mod is I guess, and where the report is filed. It will be on record as having the report, but getting a copy of may prove a little harder!

Yes... I've got this information in a variety of ways now... the blue plate seems much more sensible!
VicRoads are currently trying to chase up the original engineers certificate for us.

Since.. we picked up the dual cab last night 😀

My kit is an MPV and doesn't require a mod (blue) plate as it was classed as a 'new' vehicle when it passed engineering in 1996, I don't have to carry the engineering certs either.

On the negative side, I've had plenty of arguments with the boys in blue over this, and lots of time spent on the side of the road waiting for them to check their facts and let me be on my way.
A POSSE AD ESSE.

I live in my own little world, but it's okay, they know me here.
